Tackling Rural Crime

Most people who access the countryside are following the Scottish Access Code, but there is a small minority who exploit it for rural crime.

Fly tipping, poaching and anti-social abuse of the responsible access provisions can be tackled at the same time we are doing our deer management duties, enabling security to be cost neutral.

Our measures include:

1. Installation of community friendly signage, encouraging good behaviour and alerting criminals to the use of trail cams, patrols and local informers,

2. Installing and monitoring network enabled trail cams,

3. Providing local residents with a contact point, so we can liaise with police and provide evidence,

4. Night patrols using thermal imaging and night vision, to locate poachers.

If this service is of interest, please raise it with one of our Deer Managers.

We have a range of signage for different environmments and policies. Above is an example for arable farms, for a PDF click here.
